Income
Statement
Financial performance continued to be strong with total
revenue for the year of $2,730,083, a decrease on the
previous year by $252,744 due mainly to the unavoidable
decline in revenue from DTI services downtime, the deferral
of the Costa Rica Mission and the cancellation of the
Presidents’ Luncheon and the Negotiators’
Function. Not withstanding, gross revenue was sufficient
to absorb operating and administrative expenses resulting
in a net surplus of $459,422 which exceeded that of 2002
by $76,627. The main contributors of income were the Trade
and Investment Convention (TIC) $452,381, St. Maarten
Mission $79,257, Havana, Cuba Mission $102,556, and Jamaica
Mission $54,130. Subscription revenue was $978,029 or
15% higher than 2002 and now accounts for 36% of total
revenue. Management continues to exercise strong control
over administrative expenses and direct costs which amounted
to $2,427,312 or $217,228 lower than the previous period.
Balance Sheet
As can be expected, the Balance Sheet has been considerably
enhanced through the Barataria building initiative.
Total assets of $6,932,294 which is $4,786,488 greater
than 2002 includes the building under construction of
$4,405,165 and funds held on a short term basis for
use in construction. Bank balances and Money Market
Funds of $1,203,049 provides adequate liquidity both
for the Capital project and current operations. The
Accumulated Reserves fund now stand at $2,417,892 ($1,460,646
in 2002) which includes the transfer of the net surplus
of $459,422 and members building contributions of $497,824.
Balance sheet strength is acceptable with 35% of assets
funded internally and 65% by debt and other liabilities.
Expenditure on the building project at balance sheet
date was $4,405,165 including capitalized interest with
commitments to complete of approximately $1.3 million.
The budgeted figure for completion is $6 million and
to date bank funding of $3.8 million has been utilized.
Administration
The Organization structure established in 2002 continues
to be enhanced with two additions to the secretariat
staff during the second half of the year being a Marketing
& Communications Officer, and an Accounts Clerk.
