Young: Trinidad and Tobago leading in renewable energy

ENERGY Minister Stuart Young says Trinidad and Tobago is a leader in efforts to develop renewable energy resources in Caricom. He made the comment when he addressed the opening of a new National Petroleum Marketing Co Ltd (NP) service station and quik shoppe in Mayaro on Tuesday. Read more here…

Looming shortages threaten: cocoa needs urgent revival

Trinidad and Tobago has been internationally recognised for its cocoa and has won eight international cocoa awards since the inception of the Cocoa Excellence Programme in 2009. Scotiabank profits dip 3.68%

Scotiabank T&T yesterday reported after-tax profit of $501.86 million for the nine months ended 31 July 2023, a 3.68 per cent decline compared with the $521.07 million it earned for the same period in 2022. Read more here…

SheTrades platform to launch in September

Caribbean Development Bank, CDB, the designated host institution for the SheTrades Caribbean Hub aimed at supporting women-led businesses to access markets and investment opportunities, will launch the platform near the end of this month.  Read more here…

Guyana’s rice sector flourishes, to increase by 12 per cent

RESEARCH and development of new rice strains are improving productivity, according to President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who stated that rice remains the primary staple in Guyana and other CARICOM countries. While speaking at the Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) launch last Friday, the Head of State disclosed that the country’s rice production is expected to rise by 12 per cent from about 560,000 metric tonnes (MT) in 2021 to more than 625,000 MT in 2023.
