Rig worker widow's cry: 'If not his body, at least bring back Pete's clothes'
AFTER almost 11 months of waiting – during which time she gave birth to a child who will never know his father's voice or feel his touch – Candacy Phillip says that at long last she and her family can get closure, as an operation has commenced to retrieve the body of her husband Pete Phillip from a rig which partially collapsed on December 22. She said even if the retrieval operation on the Well Services Petroleum Co Ltd's rig, cannot locate her husband's body, she would be satified with his clothing being brought back, so as to confirm that he is no longer alive so that she and her family can, finally, move on with their lives. PM welcomes US troops to Trinidad and Tobago
THE prime minister has welcomed with open arms, the US Marine Corps' 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) which arrives today, November 16, for a week-long joint training exercise with the Defence Force (TTDF). In a post on her official account on the X platform on Sunday, Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the collaboration reflects the "deep and enduring" security partnership between TT and the United States and credited the ongoing controversial US military action with already benefiting this country. Trump calls on House Republicans to vote to release Epstein files
US President Donald Trump has urged lawmakers in his own party to vote to release files relating to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump wrote on Sunday night that Republicans in the House of Representatives should do so "because we have nothing to hide". The reversal of his recent position follows a slow drip feed of documents concerning the disgraced financier by House Democrats, some of which reference Trump, who has always denied any link to Epstein's sex abuse and trafficking.
